Creating an extra support during studying

Taking AI Chat Bot to the next level. Initially designed to ease teacher and staff workload by handling routine inquiries, bookings, and language support, the first version proved valuable,but we saw even more potential. Now, we’re enhancing engagement and expanding its role to provide even better student support.

Improving guidance

We started by analysing competitor solutions and gathering insights from students, teachers, and product stakeholders. The research revealed three recurring challenges:

  • Low engagement: existing bots often felt generic and unhelpful.

  • Reactive functionality: students only got answers after asking, with no proactive support.

  • Limited booking features: students couldn’t easily manage or reschedule classes through a bot.

These gaps prevented the chatbot from being a real support tool in the learning journey.

Designing the chatbot

To address these issues, we designed a Conversational AI coach-bot that went beyond answering FAQs. It could:

  • Help students check the dictionary or get grammar explanations.

  • Support class bookings and rescheduling directly in the flow.

  • Provide quick access to course materials and progress tracking.

My contribution focused on:

  • Expanding the design system with new conversational UI components (message bubbles, cards, quick actions).

  • Designing user flows that balanced efficiency with a friendly, encouraging tone.

  • Prototyping and testing different conversation styles to ensure clarity and engagement.
